Alfred received his undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Kansas, and master’s degrees in Counseling and Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Taylor, Ph.D., LPC-S.  Alfred has counseled a variety of people in all stages of life and has a great passion for relationship and family issues. He believes that a client-centered approach is the basis for a person to be heard, understood, and accepted, which is the first step in understanding others and resolving issues or potential issues. Alfred brings his life experience to pre-marriage, marriage, divorce, post-divorce, blended family, nontraditional family, and singles counseling, as well as trauma, grief and loss, and appropriate boundaries.

Alfred and his wife, Johanna, have training in pornography addiction and intimate partner abuse and have developed and presented seminars on the subjects at Dallas Theological Seminary. In addition to his training under Mark Laaser and William Struthers in pornography addiction, Alfred has Gottman Level One marriage training and is a certified Prepare-Enrich and Marriage Strong facilitator. Alfred also provides a unique opportunity by partnering with his wife, Johanna, for couples who wish to be counseled with a team approach that offers added insight and gender equality to the counseling sessions.
