Christopher Hinds, M.R.C. LPC

Chris Hinds received an undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Since then, he has become a Licensed Professional Counselor working with mental health struggles including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, trauma, and stress. He has also worked in facilities specializing in people with chronic illness including pain and traumatic brain injury.

He has a passion for helping adolescents and young adults adjust to difficult transitional periods in their lives and supporting them through the difficult issues that can arise in developing their identity and discovering what they want out of their life. Growing up is already hard enough without all of today’s educational, technological, and social stress. Adults aren’t the only ones who experience anxiety and depression. Also, knowing what to do once you are out of school or relatively new out in the “real world” can be a time of crisis. This can include self-esteem issues, conflicts, career difficulties, communication issues, and difficulty with interpersonal relationships. He has experience helping people of all ages through depression, anxiety, and stress. Having received counseling services in the past himself, he knows how difficult it can be to take the steps necessary to ask for help. He believes building a good relationship between therapist and client, along with concrete strategies, can help set people back on the road to recovery.

Katy Kong, M.A. LPC

Languages: Korean, English

Growing up in a multicultural atmosphere and experiencing acculturation herself, Katy was introduced to many perplexing thoughts and feelings related to differences in human perception, interpretation, and response to reality even before having a chance to understand the acceptable rules of this society. Working many years at an acute psychiatric hospital, Katy had the opportunity to work with diverse populations and issues, adding deeper knowledge and understanding of the influence of the culture and family in all mental health issues. Katy’s passion is in helping people, families, and couples living with different cultures to make sense of their surroundings, to cope with life with a little more ease and less pain by understanding the meaning of cultures within the family. After all, getting along with others is difficult for everyone at one point or another.

Katy earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and completed her intern training through Millwood Psychiatric Hospital. Millwood was an intense training field, and she is grateful for the diversity and variety of experiences with so many prevalent and clinical issues. Katy has seen clients with profound depression, complicated grief, severe anxiety issues, multiple geriatric issues, and PTSD of all levels. These were humbling yet growing years of her life.
