Many people shy away from much-needed therapy because of the cost. If you live or work near the Galleria area or Farmers Branch, you may be wondering what your options are if you do not have insurance, prefer not to use it, or need a more budget-friendly way to get support.
At Taylor Counseling Group, one of our core values is offering affordable care. This guide explains how sliding scale therapy works, what self-pay means, and the payment options available at our Galleria office in Farmers Branch.
What Is Sliding Scale Therapy?
People searching for sliding scale therapy are usually looking for counseling with rates based on income.
At Taylor Counseling Group, that option is our Affordable Care Program. It is income-based: your annual income qualifies you for a reduced session rate.
How the Affordable Care Program Works
In the Affordable Care Program, you meet with one of two types of clinicians:
- Licensed Professional Counselor Associates: Counselors who have completed their master’s-level education and are working toward full licensure.
- Practicum Students: Graduate students who are completing their master’s-level education.
Both work under the supervision of a Board Approved Professional Supervisor.
A few things to know:
- The program is income-based, and rates depend on your annual income.
- You do not need insurance to participate. The Affordable Care Program does not accept insurance.
- Affordable Care therapists may be available at the Galleria office or by telehealth. Visit the Affordable Care Program page for current therapists, locations, and rates.
What Is Self-Pay (Private Pay) Therapy?
Self-pay, also called private pay, means paying for sessions directly rather than billing insurance.
Taylor Counseling Group offers a standard private rate for self-pay clients. Current rates are listed on our insurance and payment page.
Using Insurance at the Galleria Office
Taylor Counseling Group is in-network with most major insurance providers. When we accept your insurance, your out-of-pocket expense is typically a copay or coinsurance once your deductible is met.
Our support staff can verify your insurance benefits before your first session. Keep in mind that verifying benefits does not guarantee your insurance will pay in full. For more on how this works, read our article on navigating insurance and counseling.
Payment Methods Accepted
Taylor Counseling Group accepts:
- All major credit cards
- HSA and FSA cards
- HRA accounts
You can store your payment information in our secure online portal before your first appointment.
How to Choose the Right Option for You
- If you have insurance and want to use it: Ask our staff to verify your benefits.
- If you do not have insurance or prefer not to use it, and cost is a concern: Look into the income-based Affordable Care Program.
- If you prefer to pay privately: Ask about our standard private rate.
- If you are not sure: Contact our office. Our support staff is available to answer any questions you may have.
