Distractions can make us better!
Many people complain that they have too many distractions that keep them from being productive.
-If this is the case, distractions might be a bad thing.
When are distractions good? Many times, especially during the holiday season, individuals become sad and lonely. Being alone, missing a loved one who isn’t around, getting overwhelmed, and dealing the anxiety of life are some of the times when depression hits. When you experience these things, it is good to find distractions. Distractions are a way of taking a break from the negative thoughts and feelings.
The ability to shift our attention away from negative experiences is helpful during low points. Distractions can help us cope with the pains of everyday life. They can be used to control our urges and impulses by watching shows and playing games. The cognitive demands of some games redirect our attention away from cravings and triggers by reducing the painful urge to indulge in unhealthy behaviors. Playing games might actually help us distract ourselves away from digging into that pint of ice cream in the fridge. Other great distractions include taking a brisk walk, baking a cake and taking a little road trip.
– Distractions can also help us stay fit. Many folks distract themselves, as they start the after holiday exercise routine, with music or television. They can get into the groove and improve performance and endurance using this technique.
Feeling lonely, sad, and anxious or just need to start an exercise routine? Distractions might be just what you need!
