Emma Leach, Practicum Student
DallasIt’s so good to meet you! My name is Emma, and I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Liberty University. I have the wonderful opportunity to complete my clinical training at Taylor Counseling Group [Supervised by Lori Shaw, LPC-S].
In a former career as an Assistance Dog Trainer for veterans with disabilities and children with autism, I held space for their hopes, dreams, and fears during our training sessions. Upon a major life transition and an overseas military assignment, I decided to pursue a career in mental health to continue to help others achieve the freedom and quality of life they deserve, just in a different way.
My focus is on creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship with my clients and having a servant’s heart in every interaction. While working together, my clinical approach is person-centered and includes aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and somatic therapy to address a client’s holistic wellbeing.
