Tele-Health Therapy & Insurance

We strive to remove the guesswork from insurance, especially during these trying times. With rising concerns related to COVID-19, tele-health is becoming a necessary avenue for many of our clients. Thankfully, the state of Texas has taken immediate precautionary action to ensure clients may do so without disruption.

On March 17th Governor Greg Abbot adopted an emergency rule mandating that tele-health services rendered by mental health professionals be covered by all state-regulated health plans and reimbursed at the same rates as in-person treatment or better. This emergency rule will remain in effect for up to 120 days. This also allows new clients to begin counseling without previously required in-person initial consults.

Fortunately, the majority of insurance companies that we are contracted with already supported tele-health counseling sessions and have been reimbursing sessions the same as in-office sessions for years now. These companies include Cigna, Scott & White Health Plan, United Healthcare/UMR, and Tricare East/Humana Military. In addition, some companies are also offering $0 tele-health sessions for their members with fully funded plans that include tele-health coverage.

We know insurance can be confusing so we are dedicated to helping you with anything you need. Feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have. And remember there will never be an additional cost for you should you desire to see your counselor via tele-health options.

How We Approach Online Counseling – Tele-Health

We believe in providing the most seamless, convenient, safe, and affordable way to access tele-health. As such we utilize a HIPAA secure software platform called Zoom. This platform works much like FaceTime or other popular video conferencing software. Our counselors will be in our offices or working from their home office. Privacy, security and safety are our top priorities for our clients when considering tele-health options. Again, this software is free for you and there will never be an added cost to your session.

To learn more about Zoom, you can visit their website here: Zoom.us, and for a brief tutorial on how to set up your first session, please enjoy the video below.
