Lydia Strickland, M.A., LPC
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sam Houston State University in 2020, matriculating soon after to receive my Master of Arts degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 2023. I served my internship and practicum during my time at Penn State with elementary school kids in the local school systems in Harrisburg, PA, aiding in behavioral management, trauma therapy, and play therapy.
Upon completion of my degree, I began outpatient counseling in 2023, earning my Professional Counselor License in 2025. I work with ages ranging from 7+, specializing with K-12 individuals and college adults. I utilize a variety of interventions, with a firm belief that the client is the best expert on themselves. I have received training in and used frequently: internal family systems (IFS), compassionate inquiry (CI), family and marriage counseling (Focus Family), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychodynamic narrative play therapy (sand tray), and polyvagal. I have also provided spiritual counseling to adults.
There are a complex interweaving of factors involving mental health, and I aim to take a holistic perspective on their influence. From relationships and communication to background and trauma, everything is connected to creating the way we perceive and interact with others and the world. My goal is to walk with you in your healing journey and explore more about yourself to strengthen feelings of hope, resilience, and confidence
